THE ARRESTED REVOLUTION
The nation of Israel was intended to be a
revolution. The world up to God’s giving of His Covenant with Israel in Sinai was a world governed by the human ego
and animated by Satan. Human civilization was a product of the energies in the soul of mankind, governed by the ego and animated
by Satan. This world has been called the world of lies, the world of illusion, maya and whatever terms other peoples have
given it. Plato referred to a cave in which the inhabitants saw shadows created by a fire and believed they were living in
the light of day. Mankind too believes the world he has created over millennia is the real world. Mankind is right in that
reality is a product of and result of human endeavor, but reality is not necessarily a product of or result of truth. Satan
is a liar and presents himself as the true god, but he is not the One God.
Israel was intended to be God’s
partner. As God’s partner, Israel would be God’s vehicle for establishing a world produced from the marriage of
truth and reality. In other words, God’s truth would be established when Israel incorporated truth as the foundation
of all her private, social and civic endeavors. The writer, Thomas Mann called beauty the physical manifestation of truth.
Yet truth produces more than beauty, truth produces a beauty which is eternal. Perhaps this too was Thomas Mann’s understanding.
In any case, a life animated by God’s Spirit will choose truth as the foundation of its endeavors and since true spirit
is immutable, the beauty of such a life is eternal.
Death is the ultimate result of a life animated by the spirit
of Satan with the ego filtering out God’s Spirit so that the soul of the individual is commandeered so that its energies
produce a reality, but not the reality which is married to truth. It is reality and life is lived in any reality, but the
world produced by the ego will be short lived.
Israel’s God - given Covenant was a revolutionary doctrine
which if incorporated into the life of the nation would result in a civilization animated by God’s Spirit. Such a civilization
would be an eternal and blissful one.
The mechanism of this civilization is simple. God gave mankind free will.
He commanded Israel to comply with His Covenant. To make free will significant, God created mankind with an ego. It is the
ego which develops an agenda which seeks immediate gratification, its own objectives and supersedes the agendae of others,
even those of God Himself. In order for Israel to comply with the Covenant, Israel's people would have to supersede the
force of the ego. In order to jump start this process, God allowed Israel to experience His awesome Might. This is to be relived
during the Pesach or Passover Festival. Only such awe inspiring experiences could humble mankind sufficiently and provide
him the feeling of humility which then gives his will the strength to choose what the Covenant demands, i.e., the truth, over
the demands of the ego.
If Israel succeeded in walking humbly with her God, then reality would manifest according
to God’s Spirit. If Israel failed to maintain the humility necessary to preserve the Spirit of God in each of her people’s
soul, then corrective forces would nudge her back to the reality based on God’s truth. If Israel continued to be intransigent,
then punishments followed according to a whole litany of itemized punishments. Thus broken from the horrors of torture and
and ultimately the Holocaust, Israel would be humbled and ask how such horrors could happen to them. Unfortunately for everyone on planet earth the revolution of establishing the world
of truth coupled to reality was short lived. Instead of the world of truth, Israel succumbed to the egoistic forces whose
king is Satan. In doing so the King of Creation has been exiled and still awaits the Redemption along with all of mankind.
When this Redemption happens mankind will awaken to see that the world is based not on God’s truth, but on Satan’s
lies. Mankind will conquer the ego which has been separating himself from his Creator and eternal life and allow God’s
Spirit into his life. The result of this new life with God animating his soul and all of the soul's talents and potential
will result in the cooperation all of mankind will provide to establish the world of truth or the proverbial Kingdom of God.
This state of mankind will be animated by God’s Eternal Spirit and so the state of human life which has
incorporated God’s truth and His Spirit will live forever. This is part of the Holy Covenant God made with the nation
of Israel. When Israel demonstrates this marvelous benefit of the Covenant it is hoped that the rest of mankind will join.
It is for this reason that Israel alone is held so accountable for failure to observe the terms of the Covenant.
It is for this reason that this writer continues to reach out to his people and warn them that the rabbinic tradition they
have been observing for over two millennia is not the same as the Covenant of Sinai. The fabric of the rabbinic tradition
is a hybrid of the truth of the Covenant mingled with the lies of the ego. God will not live in a world where He shares a
throne with Satan. And Israel will never find peace in a world created by incorporating the agenda of any one but her God
- period ! Unfortunately the world of illusion Israel has built is so detailed and full of minutia that it is near impossible
for any member of the people to allow himself to imagine that they have endured such suffering because they have erred in
fulfilling the commands of the Covenant. I personally have yet to meet one rabbi who is willing to entertain the idea that
the rabbis could be wrong. One aged hasid I met at a railroad station said flat out, “We will never admit that we are
wrong”. Yet if there is no eternal life; if there is no peace; if there is merely an occasional reprieve from suffering;
clearly the people are not receiving the rewards which compliance with God’s Covenant is sworn to deliver by God Himself.
So why does Israel not get this ? God Himself has said that Israel is a stiff necked people. This means Israel’s ego
is hard to conquer and that even witnessing the miracles of God and recounting those of the past do not long influence
the people to be humbled and to choose to comply with God’s Covenant and to allow God’s Spirit to enter them and
animate their souls and build God’s Kingdom. Israel has exhibited a recalcitrance which prefers to unbridle her ego
rather than enjoy the unlimited blessings of her Creator. This is a pathology which Israel has yet to address. For those who
have the courage to see this and to embark upon the challenge to mount God’s revolution; eternal life filled with God’s
spiritual and material blessings await the winners. May this Pesach be the start of our ancient Revolution - the Redemption
of Israel and all of mankind.
