I don't believe anyone truly knows how the Temple will manifest. Personally speaking as a builder,
I would enjoy working with enthusiatic builders to build God's Temple.
On the other hand, I feel that we are too impure for this task at the moment. Perhaps after we
achieve the victories which are prophesied, we as a nation will have become sufficiently pure for God to allow us this privilege.
I believe that if our performance reestablishes us as God's "pleasant plant" due to our having
transformed ourselves from the worms of Chelm to the lions of Judah; it would please Him and honor Him to have His children
do the job with His guidance.
However, if we persist in our current state and God needs to drag us kicking, whining and screaming
into the future; then I don't think we could give Him a Temple of our own construction that would do Him justice, let alone
honor Him. In this case, He may just place it on its lot ex nihilo. This is an awesome option, but one which will remain an
indelible stain on our consciousness as a nation. It will mean that we were not fit morally and spiritually to please our
Creator despite having been given the tools, i.e., the Torah's written laws to learn and apply in our lives. It would
mean that our level of consciousness and performance was tantamount to remaining at the level of a stubborn pet when our potential
was to reach the level of Moshe.
The miracle is that in the ordinary performance of the tasks of our lives, we can excell in becoming
our true selves by simply adopting the law and the spirit in which it was given. We can get it and live in ISRAEL or live
in Chelm. We can flash from one to the other schizophrenically or endeavor to remain true to God, Torah and Israel all the
time. It's like walking a very narrow bridge to the new world. We need to just focus on what is right and withdraw attention
from the negative, glistening realities of Chelm. You can start by not eating like a lumberjack if you're just pushing keys
on your computer. You don't need to wear size 44 slacks. Size 32 to 36 is all a healthy man needs.
